World Scout Jamboree 2019 – Unit #44 GMW

Outline: To be part of a group of 14-18 year olds who will attend the World Scout Jamboree in the USA in 2019 the participants should be prepared to attend all the training weekends, support fundraising events and to able to assist the Unit leadership teamto ensure a successful Jamboree

Requirements: Understand and accept the Scout Association’s Policies as a young person member of the Scout Association and be a Scout/Explorer Scout within Greater Manchester West Scout County

What we are looking for: ~

Ability to work with others and form friendships
Commitment to include others, listen and value others
Demonstrate the importance of being honest, trustworthy and loyal
Help other people / look after surroundings
Express their views and take time to hear others
Willing to take responsibility (for themselves, possessions and tasks) and make choices
Demonstrate willingness to participate, learn by doing and have fun
Commitment to the Jamboree experience, including training events
Open and willing to explore faiths, beliefs and attitudes, including those that are different then their own.
Be able to balance their education/work commitments with the demands of the unit
Able to attend the 3 weeks between the dates, which will be confirmed as soon as possible, but will be the end of July into early August 2019.
The Jamboree is a great opportunity to meet and build friendships with Scouts and Guides from all over the world. An interest in World Scouting and global issues would be beneficial, alongside cultural awareness.
Rememberthe Unit will have a year and a half to prepare for all that the Jamboree has to offer. Unit training will prepare participants for 3 weeks away from home, significant travel, different time zones, climate, physical and emotional stress, a minimum of 12 days camping, a post event and a HoHo element.
