Solar Outage:
Please note: The spring solar outage season begins February 26 and runs through March 13. Some US stations could experience these sun outages during the pre-recorded broadcast of Lulu on February 27th.
Some US stations that take the “live” satellite feed from either NPR may be affected. Here is a link to the sun outage information by state: http://www.nprss.org. Click on “Customer Support” at the top of the homepage, and scroll down to the “Solar Outages” section for the sun outage rules and a drop down menu of states to find your location for sun outage dates. If your station is on the list of possible sun outage activity, please determine during the week prior to February 27 which of the back-up methods listed below that you will use:
· Prearrange a back up ISDN feed with the Content Depot.
· The Met’s Internet backup stream will be available on Feb 27th as with all live broadcasts. Make sure you are set up and ready to switch to the backup stream if you think you may experience a sun outage. Up-to-date technical information regarding the backup stream can be found on the Met’s Network News site: www.metopera.org/networknews Call 212-496-7261 for assistance.
STATION BREAKS:
Each station break is 1-minute-15 seconds (00:01:15).
TWO AND THREE MINUTE AD BREAKS/FEATURES
We have created two and three minute features of non-commercial material that air during ad breaks where some stations may cut away from the broadcast to run local commercials or recognize local underwriters. If your station is NOT running commercials or underwriting, the broadcast continues with taped features and you can just return to the opera broadcast immediately following each station break.
Operas with one intermission will have a two-minute ad break/feature immediately following the station break and later in the intermission a three-minute break/feature. Operas with two intermissions will have a two-minute break/feature following the station break and another two-minute break/feature later in the intermission during the first intermission and a two-minute break/feature following the station break in the second intermission (no second break in second intermission). Operas with no intermission will have a two minute break in the opening.
