Hello, we are Jan and Charlotte, providers and managers of Beach Buddies Childcare.
We were both well known childminders in Braunton before starting this new venture and want to make our setting as homely as possible.
Charlotte is NVQ level 3 qualified in childcare and development as is Jan, who is currently working toward her NVQ level 4 in management and leadership. We are both qualified in paediatric first aid as well as completing level 3 safeguarding for children’s protection and welfare.
We are committed to developing our knowledge in the childcare sector along with our dedicated team of staff, who will be attending regular training courses so we can all improve and adapt our practice.
Our Service
Hours of opening: Monday to Friday 7.00 am – 6.00pm
We are open all year, term time and school holidays with the exception of bank holidays and one week between Christmas and New Years Day. Parents will also be offered a 10 working day pay break for you to arrange a holiday at your convenience.
We can care for babies from 3 months to 5 years. We are available to drop off and pick up from the three local primary schools, however spaces for the 0-5 year olds and siblings of our daycare children will take priority. Please ask about availability.
We can offer full and half day sessions, 2 together and 3 year old funded sessions. Childcare vouchers also accepted.
We offer freshly made, nutritionally balanced meals and snacks using organic produce where possible taking into account any special dietary requirements.
About Beach Buddies
We have a large, sunny dedicated baby room with comfy sofas and rugs for that homely feel. This is called the Nurture Room and we encourage heuristic play with natural objects as well as toys, resources and activities appropriate for this age. Babies have access straight into the grassy garden from this room too.
The Seashore Room is for our 2-5 year olds, together with the before and after school children. This is a lovely big, bright room where the children can access toys and resources themselves, dependant on their interests. There is a chill out area with comfy bean bags for reading, a puzzle area, creative zone, construction and role play area.
There is a large grassy garden where children can expend some energy and use their loud voices! There is climbing equipment, slides and a lovely terrace for snacks, story time or play. We have a mud kitchen and we are about to build a huge gutter run for water and ball play. This Spring we are going to start growing veggies and herbs too!
About our childcare
Indoor activities include singing, dancing and musical instrument time; play dough, junk modelling, cooking, drawing, painting, cutting, glueing and sticking; number activities. We would like to attend our local Paratroupers and are considering yoga in the mornings as well as bringing in professionals to talk to the children.
Outdoor activities include sand and water play, ball games, bug hunts, gardening, bike riding, big painting and chalking as well as trips to the beach, park, library and local attractions and shows.
A daily diary will be offered for under 3’s with a weekly diary for 3-5’s enabling you to share with your child their experience with us. Each child will have their own learning journey folder which will show their progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage, through observations as well as their precious creations and photos of your child.
We have a no shoes indoors policy and encourage our children to bring slippers or wear socks or barefeet for that homely feel.
