The Mitchell County Commissioners met in formal session on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Room of the Mitchell County Courthouse. Present were ChairmanMike Cooper and members Virgil Palen and Chuck Heidrick. Also present wereBarbara Axtell, Beloit Call; Charlene Watson, KVSV Radio and David Chase. Mike Schrandt, KDNS Radio, joined the meeting later.

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The minutes of the April 12, 2010 meeting were approved as written on motion by Virgil Palen and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

The commission held a 10-minute executive session for non-elected personnel on motion by Virgil Palen and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Session began at 8:33 and ended at 8:43 with no decisions made in executive session.

EMS Director Ed Debesis met with the commission at 8:45. Mr. Debesis requested, and was granted a 15-minute executive session for non-elected personnel on motion by Virgil Palen and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Session began at 8:45 and ended at 9:00 with no decisions made in executive session.

Public Works Director Larry Emerson met with the commission at 9:00. He informed them that the Glen Elder overlay project has been delayed one week and will begin on April 26 instead of April 19. They are still gravelling.

Economic Development Director Murray McGee presented his regular monthly report to the commission at 9:05.

Sheriff Doug Daugherty met with the commission and requested a 5-minute executive session for non-elected personnel. Session was granted on motion by Mike Cooper and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Session began at 9:18 and ended at 9:23 with no decisions made in executive session.

Neighborhood Revitalization Applications were approved at 9:25 for John Eilert and Trent & Michelle Harr on motion by Chuck Heidrick and seconded by Virgil Palen. Motion for Eilert application was approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner Cooper abstained from the vote on the Harr application.

The commission announced that due to two commissioner’s absences there will be no regular meeting on Monday, May 3, 2010.

County Health Administrator Patricia Dowlin met with the commission at 9:30. She requested a 30-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel which was granted on motion by Virgil Palen and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Session ended at 10:00 at which time it was extended 10-minutes on motion by Virgil Palen and seconded by Chuck Heidrick. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Session ended at 10:10 with no decisions made in executive session.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 on motion by Chuck Heidrick and seconded by Virgil Palen. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
