IPNA Annual Conference 13th & 14th October 2017

Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co Offaly. Hosted by the Midlands Branch.

‘All in a Day’s Work’

Throughout our days work, as Practice Nurses, we deal with the ever changing needs of our patients at all stages of life from prenatal, through early childhood, adolescence, adulthood and into old age. We aim to support our patients and their families to enjoy the best possible health and to lead healthier and happier lives.

According to the Healthy Ireland Framework 2013-2025, a Healthy Ireland is one where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and well being to their full potential, where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society and is everyone’s responsibility. The purpose of our conference is to enhance the knowledge and skills of practice nurses to enable them to play a key role within general practice and promote the highest standards of care every day to assist our patients realise their full potential within a Healthy Ireland.

This year our speakers include specialist nurses in the areas of chronic pain management and sexual health, two areas that we all encounter on a regular basis. We will have a well known public speaker give his views on how to be content and balancing home and work life. A behavioural psychologist, who is no stranger to our conferences, is sure to delight with a very engaging and enthusiastic presentation which deals with encouraging self-management and behaviour change at an individual level. A GP lecturer will discuss chronic disease management and the area of nurse led clinics in general practice. Another well renowned speaker will highlight the importance of careful and accurate documentation of all our processes and achieving recognised standards within general practice. With this variety of topics, the host committee are confident that this year’s conference will help us all, in our days’ work!

This is everybody’s conference and we encourage all delegates to get involved and participate in making this event successful. Involvement maximises the whole learning experience and therefore contributes to our continued competence and professional development as Practice Nurses.

Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.
