Digital Technology Courses in AmmA – Term 3

We are offering the following digital technology courses to teachers during Term 3. All courses will take place in the AmmA Centre from 9.30 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.

Soundscape [Primary / Post-Primary]
In this course participants will explore the elements of a soundscape. Participants will experience how to capture ‘real world’ sounds digitally and manipulate these sounds using various effects and techniques. Participants will discover how to blend all these together.
Date: Wednesday 7th June 2017 No. of Places: 14
Digital Storytelling – Green Screening, Animation and Interactive Book Design [Primary / Post-Primary]
In this course, participants will consider a ‘wider literacy’ that includes using film and digital media in their teaching. The course will look at a range of theoretical and practical activities with examples of good practice that can be applied across the curriculum. Participants will be guided through the process of reviewing film and developing critical skills through to producing a form of digital storytelling using either green screen technology, animation or interactive book design.

Scratch [Primary only]
Scratch is a highly interactive tool designed specifically to engage young people in the basics of programming. This course is designed to introduce Scratch and Scratch Jr in the context of the ‘Interactive Design’ tasks set out for ‘Using ICT’. The hands-on workshop will explore the exciting new features of Scratch 2.0 and equip you with all the skills to introduce it in your school.
