Accounting Technician

DESCRIPTIONOFWORK:Positionsinthis banded class primarily maintain, oversee, and reportfinancial accountingdata. Positions may also serve as specialists inan areaorprogramrequiring specialized fiscal knowledge,suchas,butnot limitedto, payroll, contract/grants,or other closely related accountingservices. Technical accountingwork may includeindependent responsibility for maintaining accounting records or separate accountsreceivable/payableand payroll functions. Positions may includevariedresponsibilities affecting thefiscal and financialoperationsof their respectivework unitorinvolvement ina budgetprocess. Positionshavedelegated responsibility toanalyze datafor accuracy, to problem-solve, andtointerpret regulations. Positionsmayreverse errors. They are accountableforaccuracyof entries and reconciliation ofdata and information. Positions coordinate and/ormakerecommendations for systemchangesandmay test newprocesses.
