A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MRS. ADELE P. PALMIERI OF ORANGEBURG FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE ON THE ORANGEBURG COUNTY VOTER REGISTRATION AND ELECTION COMMISSION FOR ALMOST TWENTY-TWO YEARS UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE COMMISSION AND TO ALSO COMMEND AND THANK HER FOR HER EXCELLENT SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN OTHER PAID AND VOLUNTEER CAPACITIES.
Whereas, Mrs. Adele P. Palmieri has served the citizens of Orangeburg County and the State of South Carolina in several capacities over the years; and
Whereas, she became a member of the Orangeburg County Voter Registration Board in October 1984 and continually served on the board which ultimately became the Orangeburg County Voter Registration and Election Commission until April 1, 2006, when she retired for family health reasons; and
Whereas, while on the board she has continuously promoted voter registration, voter education, and voter turnout as a prerequisite to maintaining the freedom and democracy in our State and nation; and
Whereas, Mrs. Palmieri previously was an administrative assistant to the Orangeburg County administrator and also worked for many years with the Orangeburg office of the Department of Social Services; and
Whereas, she has served her community on the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Board and chaired the Christmas Tree Light Program for ten years, served on the Orangeburg County Council on Aging Board of Directors, serves as an Orangeburg County Development Commission Ambassador, and serves as historian for the Carolina Friendship Club which welcomes newcomers to the Orangeburg community; and
Whereas, in her retirement, this lovely lady will have more time to spend with her husband, Angelo, to whom she will be married for sixty years on June 30, 2006, and with their three married children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and honor this wonderful South Carolinian for her distinguished service to Orangeburg County and the State of South Carolina upon her retirement from the Orangeburg County Voter Registration and Election Commission. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate recognize and commend Mrs. Adele P. Palmieri of Orangeburg for her outstanding service on the Orangeburg County Voter Registration and Election Commission for almost twenty-two years upon her retirement from the commission and also commend and thank her for her excellent service to the citizens of Orangeburg County and the State of South Carolina in other paid and volunteer capacities.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Adele P. Palmieri.
