VANCOUVER, BC - The British Columbia Rugby Union, the Provincial Sport governing body for the sport of rugby football in British Columbia, is seeking experienced individuals for Head Coach positions in Zone Regions for the 2018 BC Summer Games hosted in Cowichan, BC.

Reporting to the Provincial Advisor the successful applicants will operate within the guidelines of The BC Games Society and BC Rugby for coaching, selection and preparation of the team to represent your zone.

Each coach of the 8 zones plays an important role in developing the quality of rugby in BC and Canada. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and vision to ensure his/her team is at the leading edge of player development and will be dedicated to meeting minimum coaching standards.
Coach Requirements:
The Coach’s duties involve:
• Setting selection camps that are regionally specific and allow for equal representation from the whole zone.

• Working with the Provincial Advisor to make sure all staff and players meet the minimum requirements to attend the event

The candidates for these positions should hold the following accreditation:
• Currently Registered with BC Rugby
• Completed Police Record Check – for all Coaches working with youth
• Completed Rugby Ready and World Rugby Concussion Module
• Certified Level 2 Rugby Coach

• A minimum of 1 year coaching experience

Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills are critical for success in this role involving interaction with players, other zone coaches and managers, BCRU staff, volunteers and the general public. Team building and conflict resolution skills are essential.

Head Coach of the Elite Youth 7’s Female Program
Description:
The Zone Coach is a proven leader who will utilize a successful coaching experience and background to ensure that their zone team will achieve its on-field potential.
In addition to on-field success, the Coach is committed to long-term player development, the overall promotion of the game and to operating within the guidelines of a provincial program that is consistent across all levels and ensures British Columbia’s rugby programs are a proud reflection of our province and its sporting traditions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement regional team player selections, practices, training camps, development camps, and preparation for games and competitions that allow for all prospective athletes in the area to have an opportunity to try out and train.
2. Effective co-ordination and communication of game preparation and implementation
3. Knowledge and understanding of game adjustments and facilitating them during competition.
4. Work collaboratively with the Head Coach of the Elite Youth 7’s Female Program and BC Rugby Performance Development Manager to develop, refine and execute a team plan that maximizes player development
5. Communicate areas of responsibility for team captain and other team leaders
6. Media interaction where necessary
7. Participate in the selection process
8. Develop and administer areas of responsibility

9. Adhere to the sponsorship guidelines as set out by the BCRU and the BC Games Society
10. Other duties as might be defined by the BCRU Board of Directors from time to time
