Learn Photo Story 3: Joy

  1. Open the workshop website and download 4 pictures onto your H/drive or your desktop or USB flash drive. You should download one from each group (1) Silhouette (2) Blue Sky (3) Dawn (4) Joy

  1. Open the application Photo Story 3 for Windows. Select “begin new story” and then click on NEXT
  1. Click on IMPORT PICTURES. Import 4 pictures that you put on your desktop or USB flash drive. The order of the pictures should be (1) Silhouette (2) Blue Sky (3) Dawn (4) Joy.
  1. In the text box write the title of the poem “Be like the Joyous Child.” You can change the color, size, and position of the title by using the boxes above the text box. If you click on other photos you could add text to those pages as well. When you are finished adding text click NEXT.
  1. Click on the first picture, the silhouette. Press red button to record.

Introduce Yourself: Say your name, for example, “Hi my name is ___.” Introduce the poem, for example, “Today I would like to read you the poem “Be like the Joyous Child” by Sonara.”

Click on blue button to stop. Click on preview to hear your recording. Record again if necessary.

  1. Click on the second picture, the picture of the blue sky. Press red button to record.

Repeat the title of the poem and then read the first stanza of the poem.

Be Like the Joyous Child

Be like the joyous child,
Living in the moment,
Delighting in the
Sunshine and blue sky.
Fully believe
In all that's magical
And bright with hope
And possibilities.

Click on blue button to stop. Click on preview to hear your recording. Record again if necessary.

  1. Click on the third picture, the picture of the blue sky. Press red button to record.

Repeat the title of the poem and then read the second stanza of the poem.

May each day be for you
What the dawn is
For a beautiful flower
Fresh with
The morning dew.

Click on blue button to stop. Click on preview to hear your recording. Record again if necessary.

  1. Click on the 4th photo, the picture of joy. Press red button to record.

Give your thoughts on the poem. What brings YOU joy? For example, “A warm sunrise may bring joy to some. What brings me joy is…”

Conclusion: Choose one quotes about joy from the list below. Use the quote in your conclusion. For example, “In closing remember the words of (name of person) on joy. He/she/it said…” (Read quote.)

  1. Click on CREATE MUSIC. Use the menu to choose the type of music, mood, and instruments. The volume should be VERY low because it will be background music.
  1. PREVIEW your work and answer the following questions:
  1. Is your voice loud and clear throughout? YES NO
  2. Did you pronounce everything correctly?YESNO
  3. Is your voice louder than the music? YES NO
  4. Does your voice sound smooth and practiced without long pauses?YES NO

IF you said “NO” to any of the questions, go back and record again.

Now show your presentation to a partner.

  1. There are different ways to save. When you are FINISHED you must choose:Save story for playback on your computer.
  1. Is it saved as a .wmv file -(NOT .wp3)? NO (Try again) YES- Great you are done!

To look for your own pictures go to:

  1. Type a key word in the search box and enter.
  2. Find an image you like then…
  • Left click on image. This will enlarge it.
  • Right click on image and choose “Save Image As.” Be sure to put in a folder on your hard drive or flash drive where you can find it.
  1. Now you can import picture into Photo Story 3.
