POLICE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES (PRC): IMPORTANT!

Check your Home Office decision letter and documents carefully!

  • Are all your details correct? If you think there is anything wrong on your visa, please inform the International Experience Team immediately.
  • If you need to register with the police it will be stated either on the visa vignette in your passport OR on the Home Office decision letter. Check all carefully!

A) Registering with the police for the first time?
You must do this online at: (follow the prompts on the website to create an account).
You will receive a confirmation email which you need to activate your account, after which you can then login and enter your details.
You will then be prompted to book an appointment to submit your documents and pay for the certificate.
You must take with you to your appointment:
1) Your passport and BRP.
2) Your existing unconditional offer letter or your CAS statement for your current course. (You do not need a new CAS! Simply print the one that was already emailed to you).
3) Details of your UK address (tenancy agreement).
4) Payment in cash of £34 (this also applies if you are applying to replace a lost or stolen PRC). / B) Already registered with the police and have extended your visa or transferred from another University?
You must go to: .
Once on the website go to the "Help and Advice" tab, and select "Overseas Visitors Registration" and complete either a "Change in Circumstances" or "Transfer" form (select the correct form for your situation). Print the form and take it to the Snig Hill police station (see map overleaf) along with:
1) Your new visa card.
2) Your passport.
3) Your current police registration certificate (if you have one).
4) Your CAS.
5) Your tenancy agreement.

A= Sheffield Hallam University, Owen Building B= Snig Hill Police Station (S3 8LY)

  • Stay on Arundel gate and head towards the Castle Square tram stop

  • Keep Argos on your left hand side and Co-op on your right

  • Keep walking downhill and cross the road ahead of you.

The police station is at the bottom of the hill. It takes approximately 3-4 minutes to walk there from the tram stop. /
