Stratton/Tipton Scholarship Application

Description: The Stratton/Tipton Scholarship is an award of $500 given by the Kentucky Association of Career & Technical Education Special Needs Personnel. This award serves to provide assistance for one Kentucky high school senior and one currently enrolled post-secondary student pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate in the field of Career & Technical education from any post-secondary institution in Kentucky. Each recipient will receive a $500 scholarship, ($250 per semester).

Selection Criteria: Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, letters of reference, career potential and financial need. Recipients are eligible to reapply the following year on a one-time basis and must represent at least one area within Special Populations. Recipients must be a Kentucky resident, attend a Kentucky high school or post-secondary institution and be in pursuit of a certificate, diploma, or degree within the field of career & technical education. High school students must provide proof of acceptance to the program they are pursuing, or post-secondary institution they are planning to attend.

Academic Achievement: Must have earned at least a 2.5 GPA calculated from their freshman year through the first half of senior year. Include an official transcript.

Reference Letters: Provide two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to the applicant. One must be from a teacher/administrator and one from non-school personnel.

Description of Career Potential: Submit a two-page, typed and double spaced summary of your occupational objective, chosen field of study and intended profession in Career & Technical Education. Also include appropriate information about extracurricular activities, work and community service.

Attend Summer Conference: If at all possible the applicant should be present at the summer conference to receive the scholarship award.
