TITLE: Director of Development
DEPARTMENT: Development Office
REPORTS TO: Diocesan Finance Officer
DESCRIPTION: The Diocese of Fall River includes 90 parishes in Bristol County, the towns of Mattapoisett, Marion, and Wareham in Plymouth County, all of Barnstable County, Dukes County, and Nantucket County.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: The Director of Development coordinates and manages the Annual Catholic Charities Appeal and the St. Mary’s Education Fund Fall Scholarship Dinner.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Coordinates and facilitates the Annual Catholic Charities Appeal.
•Responsible for the creation of promotional materials for the Annual Catholic
Charities Appeal.
•Work with Pastors to insure the smooth implementation of the Annual Appeal.
•Coordination of all public events relating to the Appeal.
•Oversee the Office staff of three who input donations received into the database,
process credit card payments, and process the payments on pledges made for the
Appeal.
•Plan and run the three-Kick Off events prior to the beginning of the Appeal.
•Oversee the production of the video and audio materials for the Catholic Charities
Appeal.
•Develop plan to identify, cultivate, research, and solicit large donors for the Catholic Charities Appeal.
•Develop a program of planned giving for the Catholic Charities Appeal.
•Assist the Finance Officer and expand the opportunities for growth in fundraising for the Catholic Charities Appeal.
•Coordinates the efforts for the St. Mary’s Education Fund Fall Scholarship Dinner.
•Coordination of Diocesan-wide volunteer committees soliciting financial support
for the St. Mary’s Education Fund.
•Responsible for the scholarship application process and disbursement of aid to all
qualified applicants to the St. Mary’s Education Fund.
•Responsible for the creation of promotional materials for the St. Mary’s Education Fund Fall Scholarship Dinner.
•Coordination of all public events pertaining to the St. Mary’s Education Fund Fall Scholarship Dinner.
•Oversee the public relations relative to the St. Mary’s Education Fund Fall
Scholarship Dinner.
•Work with committee to plan and execute the program for the Dinner itself. This
would include identifying a guest speaker, coordinating with the Schools’ Office
for students to be present as greeters, and having musical presentations from
students at one of the schools.
•Oversee the production of the video and audio materials for the St. Mary’s
Education Fund.
•Develop plan to identify, cultivate, research, and solicit large donors for the St. Mary’s
Education Fund.
Occasional night and weekend work required.
Successful candidate must have excellent fundraising, communication, analytical, and computer skills, the ability to handle tasks simultaneously, and strong people skills.
