Dear Colleagues and Parents,January 23, 2013
We would like to formally invite you to our Science Research Program Recruitment and Informational Meeting next Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the High School Library from 6 -8 pm. We welcome your participation with any comments that you may have for the freshmen and parents. The meeting is intended to excite and encourage freshman students to apply to the Science Research Program and to relay important information aboutthe course and the application process. We would love if you could share your experiences and thoughts regarding the positive impact this course has on the students, as well as any positive feedback you have heard from the community.
In order to update you on the exciting progress of our current, sophomore students, we have attached a file containing summaries of the scientific topics that each student is currently working on. The summary paragraphs were written by the students themselves. The students chose topics of interest to them in the summer, and have narrowed their topics, on their own, to a very specific focus. You can see that the topics of research in the class cover a wide and fascinating rangeof fields in science. Currently, all students are reading peer-reviewed journal articles to further their studies, and many have started communicating with professionals in the field.
We would also like you to save the date for our 1st Annual Montville Township High School Science Research Symposium. It will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2013 in the High School Auditorium, 6 – 10 pm. More information regarding this exciting event, which is open to the public, will be available soon. We look forward to seeing you next week and in June.
