“The smart machine”

News from Plasser & Theurer at the InnoTrans 2016

We will introduce a newly developed universal 2-sleeper tamping unit for tracks and turnouts: the 8x4 unit combines the flexibility of the universal 1-sleeper tamping units in split-head design with the output of 2-sleeper tamping operations.The benefit: this unit knows no obstacles.No sleeper will be omitted and none will be tamped twice unnecessarily,resulting in savingsof time and optimal accessibility to all tamping zones.Speed control of the vibration drive of the tamping units helps save time by increasing the output in encrusted ballast and reduces maintenance costs.

Another focus will be placed on our diverse range of tamping machines.We offer applications for any field and different performance categories.Common features of all machines are their ease of operation and control including track geometry handling – all geared to 4.0. See for yourself at our exhibition stand: “The smart machine”. You will find us at stand 222 in hall 26.

On the outdoor exhibition grounds,we will display two of our machines:

  • With the TIF tunnel inspection vehicle from its new fleet programme, Plasser & Theurer demonstrates its outstanding production quality.Under a framework agreement, DB AG will obtain a number of maintenance vehicles based on a consistently uniform vehicle concept and high quality criteria.The TIF vehicle is equipped withthree cranes with a reach of up to 14.5m.The spacious, elastically supported and sound insulated cabin has a walk-on roof with telescopic handrails.The crane cab includes all control instruments for machine operation, but is also used as a driver’s cabin.The new video documentation entitled “Manufacturing quality in series” demonstrates the path from the concept of design to the realisation of a new fleet of machines. •The Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic E3 runs and works with a new hybriddrive carto ensure ecologic tamping of turnouts in record time. TheE3 technology stands for Economic – Ecologic – Ergonomic.The machine offers:

  • perfect maintenance of any type of turnouts thanks to 3-rail lifting and 4-rail tamping;
  • reduction in energy and logistics costs;
  • lower pollutant emission;
  • noticeable reduction in noise levels;
  • suitabilityfor inner urban areas and night work.
