FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL GRADUATES FIRST-EVER

DUALRECRUIT CLASSES

~ 95FHP Academy graduatesjoin Florida’s Finest~

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Today, the Florida Highway Patrolgraduated ninety-five new troopers from FHP’s Training Academy, marking the first time in the Patrol’s 75-year history that two recruit classes trained and graduated simultaneously. The graduates join the more than 1,800 troopers who patrol the state’s roads each day to provide protection and assistance to Florida residents and visitors.

“Today we welcome ninety-five new members to the Florida Highway Patrol family,” said Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol. “As we mark our 75th Anniversary of the Patrol, these new troopers represent the agency’s future and will carry on FHP’s traditions and dedication to public safety in the years to come.”

“For 75 years the Florida Highway Patrol has worked to build a reputation as one of the best state law enforcement agencies in our country,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi, the keynote speaker at today’s graduation ceremony. “I am honored to be a part of this historic day and to welcome these 95 troopers who will build on FHP’s legacy of providing public safety and assistance to the millions of residents and visitors who travel Florida’s highways every day.”

Members of the 126th and 127th basic recruit classeswent through twenty-three weeks of intense physical training and academic study covering topics such as human relations, law, firearms, defensive tactics, vehicle operations and first aid. While at the Academy, recruits also participated in several community service activities, including blood drives and volunteering to help those living with developmental disabilities.

FHP honored new TroopersAlec Ritter of the 126th and Margarita Sanchez of the 127thwith the Executive Director’s award for achieving the highest grade point average at the academy. The Patrol presented the Directors Award to new TroopersDavid Gonzalezof the 126th andRyan Dalton of the 127th for demonstrating extraordinary courtesy and dedication during the 23 weeks of training.
