Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 10 February, 2016 at the Community Hall, Rydon Road, Kingsteignton, at 8:17 pm

08/16 Apologies

Apologies were received from Cllr Rose.

Cllr Jones and Cllr Thorne were absent without apologies.

09/16 Declaration of Interest

There were no declarations of interest.

10/16 Minutes

Cllr Peart signed the minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 13 January 2016, which had been approved at the Full Council meeting.

11/16 Kitchen renovation

Cllr Peart presented a copy of a proposed design for replacement kitchen units, new worktops, new taps and a new sink for handwashing. It was also discussed that there would be a requirement for some plumbing and some electrical work to be carried out, due to the new design requiring the fridges to be moved as well as the small handwashing basin being removed and a new one being installed below the hand towel rail on the outside front wall. After discussion, Cllr Stevenson proposed for Mr J Stacey to proceed with obtaining two further quotes from other companies and also costings for the electrical and plumbing work as well as the flooring and tiles. All specifications are to meet with food and hygiene standards. Seconded by, Cllr Austen. All,agreed.

12/16 Spring Flowers Budget

Cllr Peart asked for the budget to be considered for the planting of spring flowers within the Community Hall grounds and at the Fountain.

Cllr Austen proposed that it be set at its previous amount of £250. Seconded by, Cllr Peart. All, agreed.

13/16 Town Guide

Mrs Simmons asked for Councillors to consider the Town Guide being produced independently for Kingsteignton, rather than a combined guide with Newton Abbot. Other towns’ guides were shown as an example of size. The guide will be produced in-house with the possibility of having the MDA selling the advertising space.

After discussion it was agreed that we should be producing our own. Cllr Stevenson proposed for Mrs Simmons to obtain costings for production/printing and to establish approximate advertising revenue.

Seconded by, Cllr Peart. All, agreed.

14/16 Bills for Payment

·  Jackie Edwards – Town Crier’s Tricorn Hat @ £60 + £10 p + p

The above was approved.

15/16 Correspondence for Information

·  Thank You card received from the Cross Stitch Club

·  Thank You note received from Mrs Funnell, Avery Hill

16/16 Town Crier – Update

Mrs Simmons advised that Mrs Jackie Edwards was seeking permission to attend the following events:

·  The Mad Hatters Tea Party at Teign School

·  Town Crier Competitions throughout the year at various locations throughout Devon & Somerset.

All of the above were approved with mileage and meals being paid by KTC at the same rate as TDC Cllrs receive. Also that Mrs Jackie Edwards received her own personal bell as a Christmas present and requested from Council the inscription they would like her to have. It was agreed that the wording considered to be appropriate would read: 1st Kingsteignton Town Crier 2015 Agreed by all.
