Generally Good Links for Learning about Computer Science

Chapter 1 – History

pretty good site it has timelines, exhibits, artifacts, and photo shows of the older computer parts and structures from the beginning to the present.

Excellent site it has it all laid out for before 1944 and increments of the times where breakthroughs happened.

Chapter 2 – Tools

I personally enjoy this site because I enjoy using the new Fedora Core series of Red Hats.

Not real fond of this one it does have lots of help pages but they are not very detailed. It is hard to find what you are looking for at this site. (not a bad design though)

Chapter 3 – Architecture

Nice site it goes as basic as you want and it can get as deep as you want. The design of the site itself is pretty good it is a little harder to follow than some of the others, but for learning something it is pretty good.

Chapter 4 – Data Representation

This is a nice site: it gets right to the point and doesn’t use all its space for advertising itself. It has good representation for number, character, integer, fraction, and binary systems.

Chapter 5 – Operating Systems

which comes from the Askjeeves.com is pretty good I have had a lot of luck with askjeeves, pretty good site. Too much advertising though.

and are all really good sites as well because they are part of the open source world it is easy to find out anything you want.

Chapter 6 – Networks

Not a real good site you have to do a lot of searching on the page just to find the helps. But if you want to buy something it is all over the place. Which makes sense but if you are looking for help it is not very helpful.

Chapter 7 – Internet

If I could put this one on all of the chapters I would, it is an excellent web page for help with anything.

There is a very vast number of internet websites on internet and the majority don’t give you what you are looking for.

Chapter 8 – Database

nice support site and SQL course trainer. Not the best interface and kind of hard to navigate in but overall a pretty good site.

Chapter 9 – Data Structures

an excellent site for any training in a programming environment it is awesome and very good at explaining concepts.

has a great dictionary for the terms and usage of Data Structures. Gets right to the point no useless garbage floating around. Not very detailed when explaining the concepts.

Chapter 10 – File Structures

This web site is pretty much the book so it is very informative and detailed. But because it is like a book it is a bit harder to navigate.

Chapter 11 – Programming

This website has come in handy a number of times it has been very helpful for my programming.

Usually the authors websites for any of the programming programs are very hard to follow and even harder to find what you are looking for.

Chapter 12 – Software Engineering

A awesome website for information but a very ugly and unorganized website.

a very hard website to follow but the information is there.

Chapter 13 – Security and Ethics

This is a pretty good site it is the University of Georgia. Explains well but a little difficult to navigate.

does not explain a whole lot but points you in the right direction to find what you are looking for.

Chapter 14 – Emerging Technology

Because it is a magazine as well you have to pay to get all the information. However if you get the subscription it is very informative.

Also an excellent site but you have to pay to get all the good information.
