Podcast and Communications Internship

Mental Health America of Middle Tennessee

Agency Overview

Mental Health America is the nation’s oldest mental health advocacy organization, and the Nashville affiliate is over 70 years old. Our programs focus on suicide prevention, aging and Alzheimer’s support, anti-bullying programs, multicultural outreach and education, peer support, professional trainings, screenings, and community education and referrals.

To promote mental health and wellness, MHAMT desires to launch a podcast (and perhaps later a YouTube channel), which either features one-on-one interviews with Middle TN experts or recordings of our educational programs. Initially these podcasts and videos will highlight internal staff and programs, symptoms and triggers of mental illnesses, and the different levels of care and providers (i.e., roles of psychologist vs psychiatrist; inpatient vs residential care); then interview community leaders in the field. MHAMT desires the intern to average one podcast per week.

Position Summary

Ideally, the Podcast/Communications Intern will dedicate a least 6-8 hours per week to record, edit, and post podcasts/videos online. MHAMT currently has the required hardware and software, but it is still in boxes. The Podcast/Communications Intern will report to the Program Manager and be encouraged to join the MHAMT marketing committee.

This is an unpaid internship, although mileage will be reimbursed.
