AFRICAN AMERICAN CLUB OF HERNANDO, INC.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Purpose:

To identify African American students in Hernando public high schools and/or Pasco Hernando State College with academic skills, who may have limited financial resources, by providing assistance through the awarding of scholarship(s) to enable them to pursue postsecondary education. The African American Club of Hernando, Inc, will award two (2) $1,000 Scholarships for 2018.

Objectives:

e Award scholarship(s) in public high schools in Hernando County and/or Pasco Hernando State College to African American students, who meet the eligibility criteria.

•To identify eligible students for scholarship(s) with the assistance of the school faculty.

Eligibility Criteria — High School Student:

•Resides and attends a public high school in Hernando County.

•Achieves a cumulative 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) Of better.

•High school transcript must be attached. Official transcript may be requited upon request.

•Maintains a minimum of 80% attendance record.

Submits two (2) letters of recommendation from their high school faculty/ staff. Demonstrates evidence of involvement in extracurricular activities and/or community service.

•Fully completed application and essay.

•Provides evidence of acceptance at a post-secondary institution Must be of African American descent,

Eligibility Criteria — Pasco Hernando State College Student:

Resides in Hernando County.

•Has completed 12-credit hours at Pasco Hernando State College. Achieves a cumulative 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA\) or better.

•Submits one (1) letter of recommendation from college facility and one (1) letter of recommendation from an individual as a character reference. Provides documentation to establish financial need Fully completed application and essay.

•Must be currently enrolled at Pasco Hernando State College. Must be of African American descent.
