The criminal department – FRK you may want this to be specific about the current fraud team.

The criminal department is based at our offices in Whitechapel, Tottenham and Clapham. There are currently 2 member partners, 4 salaried partners, 12 solicitors, 2 trainee solicitor and 6 paralegals in the department.

We cover police stations and courts all over London but specifically in East, North and South London. Within the criminal department there is a specialist youth crime unit. Criminal practitioners in the firm also benefit from the specialist skills of our colleagues in the firm’s mental health department who are all duty solicitors as well and too appear at the criminal courts.

Our clients come from across London and beyond. Our client base is from many different ethnic backgrounds and a significant number do not speak English. As with any legal practice based in inner city area, many of our clients suffer social deprivation and have suffered traumatic experiences in the past. A significant proportion of our clients are vulnerable because of youth, disability or mental health problems.

We have a strong commitment to training of our staff. We deliver regular internal training courses for staff of all levels of experience. Anthony Edwards who delivers training courses across the country every year is involved in this training as are several other members of staff with considerable experience of legal training.

Fraud /Private Client Solicitor

The Criminal Department of TV Edwards LLP seeks to appoint a solicitor to undertake Fraud and Private Client work. Successful candidates will ideally have experience of working on matters involving business crime, civil fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption.

This role will be based at our offices in Whitechapel.

An intensive induction programme will be provided which will introduce you to office systems and our computerised case management system. It will also provide practical training in the main tasks you will be expected to perform as a paralegal (e.g. completing legal aid applications, drafting court applications, taking witness statements and preparing mitigation).

(a)  Essential characteristics

·  Ability to communicate effectively with both clients and staff at all levels.

·  Excellent written communication skills

·  Ability to prioritise and work efficiently under pressure

·  Problem solving ability and ability to achieve results for clients

·  Familiarity with Windows and Word.

·  We require you to bring to interview documentary proof of your right to work in UK.

Interview process

Those candidates that are short listed for interview will be asked to take part in a written assessment and in addition will be given a written scenario and where after the allotted time you will be asked to present your answers orally to those interviewing you.

A second interview may be arranged if necessary.

We will require references from two separate referees before an offer of employment can be confirmed.
