Breakthrough in Lightweighting Technology

York, Pa. – August 7, 2013 – ENGEL North America is hosting a special industry event on the latest in lightweight injection molding technologies. The event – Breakthrough in Lightweighting Technologies -- will be held September 24, 2013 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

ENGEL North America, member of the ENGEL Group, a world leader in the design and manufacture of injection molding machines and parts-handling automation, will host a technical symposium -- Breakthrough in Lightweighting Technologies -- at the Ciociaro Club in Windsor (Oldcastle), Ontario.

The complimentary single day event will consist of technical presentations by a variety of industry experts on lightweight molding technologies and materials including Dipl.-Ing. Tobias Potyra and Dr. Andrew Hrymak of the Fraunhofer Project Centre for Composite Research at Western University, Matt Noon from Ticona, Brent Strawbridge of Trexel Inc., and ENGEL expert Michael Fischer. Presentation topics will include: weight reduction and cost savings with strong lightweight construction materials; maximizing the benefits provided by MuCell® technology; enabling lightweighting with new injection molding technologies; and manufacturing technologies for high volume automotive applications of fiber reinforced composite materials

Breakthrough to Lightweighting 2013 will include a plant tour of Montel Plastics Ltd. (located only minutes from the presentation hall), where two ENGEL injection molding machines – a tie-bar-less ENGEL victory 1350/285 and a two-platen ENGEL duo 23050/2500 -- will be running MuCell applications.

Montel Plastics provides a wide range of technical and production support to injection molders, including facilities for MuCell injection molding trials, mold testing and material testing.

The event also includes an on-site Partner Fair with exhibits from a variety of mold, raw material and technology suppliers. Event speakers and partner fair participants will be on-hand to discuss ways they can help companies expand their competitive edge with lightweight injection molding: cost savings, improving weight to performance ratios, maintaining part strength and integrity while saving weight, increasing cycle times, and more.
