COLLEGE SCHOOL CAPTAIN2015
The College Captain occupies the senior leadership position within the student body and is directly responsible to the Principal. They should display outstanding leadership qualities and at all times be a role model for all members of the College Community. The College Captain will meet regularly with the Principal Team, will chair the Student Leadership Team and will be automatically appointed to Student Voice.

DUTY STATEMENT
The Gleneagles School Captain will be required to perform the following duties:
- Represent the students and the College on official occasions.
- Speak on public occasions i.e. Information Nights, Presentation Nights, Assemblies etc.
- Attend and support College Activities as required including meeting guests to the school and doing school tours.
- Organise and chair regular meetings of the Student Leadership Team
- Be an active member of Student Voice
- Speak confidently, knowledgeably and positively about the school program including co-curricular activities.
- Meet regularly with the Principal Team
- Write regular articles for the school newsletter and a report for the College School Magazine
SELECTION CRITERIA
The Gleneagles School Captain will be selected based on their ability to respond to the following criteria:
- Currently in Year10/11at Gleneagles and a long term commitment to the College.
- A demonstrated commitment to assisting in planning, attending and participating in major College functions and activities.
- Ability to speak confidently on public occasions.
- Ability to find out the views of a wide range of students and be able to explain these views to other groups i.e. the Principal and Student Leadership Team
- Demonstrated knowledge of the different activities available at Gleneagles e.g. clubs, sporting activities, music program etc and enhancement opportunities
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, including an ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated positive leadership skills and experience.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Written response to questions
- Teacher referral
- Interview of students
The Panel shall consist of:
The College Principal or Nominee
A member of the teaching staff
Two members of Student Voice
A member of the local community
The interview will directly address the candidate’s ability to fulfil the duty statement and address the selection criteria.
