Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – Local Offer

Our Values

Sadberge Pre-School is committed to the inclusion of all children. We lead and support children’s learning in order for them to develop to their full potential alongside each other through positive experiences, enabling them to share opportunities and to develop and learn from each other. We provide a positive and welcoming environment where children are supported according to their individual needs, cultures and beliefs.

Every child is important to us and is recognised as an individual with particular needs. We are committed to supporting all children and their families with a range or additional educational needs so that they can access all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. We will liaise with families about any concerns we may have observed regarding their child’s development. This will be through observations, progress checks and discussions with the child’s parents/carers. Each child will be allocated a Key Person. It is the role of the Key Person to ensure that every child’s learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help the child become familiar with the setting and offer a settled relationship for the child. In doing so the Key Person will seek to engage and support parents and/or carers in guiding their child’s development at home. They should also, where necessary, help families engage with more specialist support if appropriate.

If a child is identified as having special educational needs we support their development and progress by firstly speaking with parents and/or carers then working together to plan the next steps. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) will usually be devised from this and then if required, extra support is obtained and appropriate assessments will be carried out by working in partnership with external agencies/professionals, depending on the needs of the child, such as:-

Early Years Inclusions Officers

Speech & Language Therapists

Educational Psychologists

Early Years Professionals

Health Visitors

Occupational Therapists

GP’s
