Notice of Allocation Process:

In order to ensure a more orderly and timely process for allocations to campus organizations and sponsored activities, the allocation process has been reviewed and updated. Attached please find a chart which describes the process. Additionally enclosed is an “Application for Recognition as a Campus Organization.”

Annually, an organization will be asked to submit an updated application, a calendar of events and activities, and a request for allocations. The organization will also be requested to appear at the scheduled budget hearings. Failure to follow the process will seriously mitigate consideration of the allocation request.

The process is expected to strengthen the role of campus organizations as Harris-Stowe State University expands and it will also help the Student Government Association allocation the funds fairly among the participating organizations.

Definition of a Campus Organization

An organization may qualify as a HSSU campus organization if:

1.  The organization’s activities and purpose strengthens or complements the educational mission of the institution in co-curricular or extra-curricular ways and are appropriate to the policies of HSSU, the state of Missouri and nation.

2.  At least eight students currently enrolled at HSSU have expressed interest in and are current member of the new or existent organization or chapter.

3.  A full time HSSU faculty or professional staff member has agreed to sponsor and advise the organization by attending meetings, monitoring its activities and maintaining contact with administrative office to ensure adherence to policies and procedure of HSSU and SGA.

Allocation of Funds

Based on the amount of the budget, and information gathered at budget hearings, the SGA award funds to campus organizations to complement the funds they have received or raised from other sources. The SGA reserves the right to re-allocate funds which are not expended by the organization by the mid-semester of the first semester of the next year.

Completed applications should be submitted to the Office of Student Activities.
