Guidance Updates from Mrs. Friend

419-485-6700 Ext. 1708

Seniors:
College
Hopefully you have applied to at least one school by now. If not, please do so in the next week or two. Be sure to check deadlines at your potential schools. They will be creeping up. If you need anything from me, please let me know. Also, when you get accepted to schools, pass that information along to me! If you need a letter of recommendation, use the recommendation sheet to aid your reference person with the process. They are in the trays outside my office.
Scholarships
Scholarships are slowly trickling in. Make sure you are checking the guidance page often for this information. The link to scholarships is located at the top of the right-hand column on my page. Be mindful of deadlines and, of course, give people plenty of notice for writing any recommendations that you might need.
We will be offering the ASVAB test on Nov. 10th in the morning. If you are a Senior or Junior who needs to take this test, please see me ASAP. All sophomores will take this test for career exploration purposes.

More Important News

Freshmen and Sophomores

Exams will be upon you sooner than you may think. Exams in high school are incredibly important. Your semester grades and class credits can hinge on them. Each 9 weeks your grade counts for 40% of the semester grade and the exam counts for 20%. If you do the math, you can see how exams can really affect your grade. Studying for these tests is a must. If you have any questions, please come chat with me about it.

Juniors

It is getting to be time to take your first ACT. I would suggest either the December or the February test for you. There are practice books and registration fliers outside my office in the trays if you need them. Make sure that you don’t miss the deadlines for sign up. Also, you will need to have a picture ID to take the test. If you don’t have one, see me for assistance.

Remember that you have three college visit days to use this year. If you want ideas on colleges, come on down and we can look at them together. Also, if you plan a visit, be sure to get the green paper from Mrs. Richmond a few days before you plan to go. It needs signed by a parent and all of your teachers before you go. You also have to bring back a signed form from the college you visit.

Testing Dates:

ACT: December 12, 2015

Sign up by November 6th

SAT: December 5, 2015
