In addition to our individual team coaching staffs, many long-time Pegasus staff will be assisting us during the fall, winter & spring workouts.

Mission Statement

… Our guiding principles…

Pegasus Softball, Inc. was formed in 1986 to promoteamateur sports competition

to advance the education, health, and athletic discipline of young women.

Pegasus intends to provide a vehicle to develop andshowcase the skills of the

best softball players in the area.Consider it and honor, and a testament

to your ability, to be selected for this team.

Pegasus History

… deep roots, long traditions …

Pegasus Softball, Inc. was formed in 1986. The organization was formed as a spin-off of LYA Softball, part of the Lionville Youth Association, that has been serving this community for over 30 years. Pegasus was formed to help players further their education utilizing their softball skills and that remains one of our primary objectives. The founder, and first President of Pegasus, was Bill Gans. John Davidson was the first coach of the organization, and gave us 10 years of his skills behind the bench. The first Pegasus squad in 1986 was an 18U team, followed two years later by the first 16U team.

The first Pegasus player to sign with a college was Courtney Hankes McGovern. Many of our pitchers today, take pitching lessons from Courtney, who still holds several NCAA collegiate records. Courtney threw out the first pitch five years ago at the 20th Annual LYA O’Neil Softball Tournament. There are currently 66 players in our Hall of Fame who moved onto Collegiate Softball careers… deep roots, long traditions.

The first team to attend an ASA National was the Regional Champion 16U team from 1993. That team was the first East Coast team to rank in the top 10 in the nation, coming in 9th. In 1994, the 18U team was Pennsylvania State Champions, giving them their first berth to ASA Nationals, while the 16’s attended their second Nationals. In 2000, Pegasus celebrated our 15th anniversary by sending our 18U’s and 16U’s to Nationals in Illinois, and Texas. In 2010, the 14u team won PONY Nationals. We have won major tournaments throughout the East Coast, and regularly attend high profile showcase tournaments across the United States. Pegasus holds a College Showcase Tournament each July that bring together some of the best teams and College Coaches in the area. In 2010, the 14u team won the PONY National Championships.

Our greatest achievement is our Hall of Fame. These are the players who have gone onto College with some form of Scholarship in Softball. We have placed our alumni in all divisions at the College level. We work year-round to achieve our players’ dreams. The Pegasus Board of Directors and our Coaching staffs have the same philosophy…. we are a team, we are a family… and with everyone working together, we will be successful as players, and as people.

Pegasus Events

…Halloween? Christmas? Winter Fun? …

Pegasus will sponsor certain organizational get-togethers during the year, some of which will be deemed as fundraisers, and some of which will simply be for fun! You can definitely count on our annual Christmas Party, where all our teams and families will get together for a great celebration of the Holiday season. In the past we have sponsored Casino Trips, Halloween Parties, Christmas Events, and Winter Sleepover Parties. New ideas are always welcome!

Registration & Payment Plans

…tuition, fundraising, & expenses …

Pegasus will publish a full list of costs and what is included in each player’s tuition, shortly after each team is selected, and rosters are finalized. Generally, the cost of the tournaments, uniforms, fall schedule, winter workouts, and spring/summer tournament seasons increase as you rise up from the 10U’s, through the 16U’s, to the 18U program. There will be an initial tuition payment due shortly after players are offered a position, and final rosters are selected. A monthly payment plan may be utilized, starting in October, and ending in Febuary.

The tuition will generally cover fall tournament and scrimmage fees, winter workouts, uniforms, some rooms & board (18U only), regular season tournament fees, some meals for players during overnight trips, umpires for league games (Tri-County League), and organizational costs. Additional funds would be required for attendance at the National Tournament (i.e.: ASA, NSA, PONY, etc.), to be determined during the spring/summer season, depending on our success at qualifying tournaments. The goal of each team is to attend a National Tournament.

Pegasus will offer players opportunities throughout the fall & winter seasons, to earn their tuition, or part of their tuition, through various fundraising events, and the sale of program ads for our Summer Showcase Tournament, the third weekend in July. Any funds not raised through fundraising, will be the responsibility of the players/parents/guardians. If different payment terms are requested, you must make arrangements with, and at the discretion of, the team’s manager and Pegasus Treasurer.

Additionally, each year Pegasus seeks help from community and corporate sponsors to help defray the costs of some expenses such as equipment, indoor facilities, field usages, and travel expenses. Pegasus supports the United Way, and encourages additional contributions by our Pegasus family to that wonderful charity (Pegasus United Way Sponsor #9087). Your United Way contributions will help defray additional costs to the organization for insurance, travel, equipment, and other ongoing costs which arise over the course of the year.

Success

… by Ralph Waldo Emerson …

To laugh often and much

To win the respect of

Intelligent people and the

Affection of children, to earn

The appreciation of honest critics

And endure the betrayal

Of false friends

To appreciate beauty

To find the best in others

To leave the world a bit better

Whether by a healthy child

A garden patch

Or a redeemed social condition

To know even one life has breathed easier

Because you have lived

That is to have succeeded

Thank You !

… for coming to our tryouts …
