Fire Fighting Equipment Contract

As you are no doubt aware there have been numerous problems with the existing contract set up through Sheffield City Council’s Commercial Services section for the servicing of all fire fighting equipment. Due to the existing contractors poor performance and their failure to complete numerous previously agreed recovery plans to bring all sites back into compliance, the contract with CFS (Contract Fire & Security) has now been terminated.

We have now appointed a new contractor Chubb Fire and Security with the explicit instruction to ensure all properties are “made compliant” by the end of this financial year, 31st March 2013 in line with the previous contract.

  • Chubb will be contacting all relevant sites via telephone to carryout the required servicing to all fire fighting equipment giving a minimum of 3 days notice.
  • All Chubb operatives / engineers have been CRB checked.
  • Chubb will start the servicing programme commencing Monday 7th January 2013.
  • Due to the disruption caused, Property & Facilities Management as a one off good will gesture will pick up all costs associated with the contract which would usually fall under the responsibility of the individual property.

Please except our apologies for the problems that have occurred but we have been doing our up most to ensure that the previous contractor fulfilled their contractual obligations, although I am sure at times that has not seemed to be the case. We are already in the process of reorganising the procurement route for the on going contractual arrangements to ensure the problems experienced are never repeated and I will update you of any changes.

We will be meeting on a weekly basis with Chubb to try and ensure that the contract now runs as smoothly as possible. If you have any queries or have had any problems from a service visit by Chubb then please contact myself or my colleague Steve Mills.
