  • Audit Committee was appointed– Peter and Stephanie were nominated and appointed.
  • Lee T and Nancy C discussed a retreat possibility – Lee stated that in1988 and 1999 there were successful retreats in the Smokies. People from other regions across the State attended because of the location. The facility they used (Wayfloy Retreat Center with the Steiner Bell Lodge) is available next April 2016. Rooms are $84 a night. The retreat center is opening a restaurant. The other place Lee called is Greystone Lodge downtown Gatlinburg which is not available until April 2017 and is $94 a night. Leesuggested a late weekend in April due to weather. Lee is gathering more information on the cost to reserve the center. Nancy will be calling other intergroups to determine if they would like to participate.
  • Region 8 Conference report – Dianne B discussed money received from the Assembly and discussed some changes she made to the report. The Report is being sent to Region 8. The Report includes a Treasury report and suggested improvements from each sub-committee for the next Conference as well as a few suggestions for updating the hosting manual. The subcommittees and/or areas of reporting included: treasury, registration, hotel liaison, recovery program, boutique, hospitality, entertainment, runners/pages, love notes, fund raiser, advertising, and decorations.

Total income from the Conference was$5273.70 which includes $462.75 earned from the Boutique. MTI keeps the money earned from the Boutique. A total of $4810.95 is split between Region 8 and MTI.

  • Notes of Hope – Discussion ensued regarding lack of interest in “Notes of Hope”. Stephanie W reported that one article was submitted for May and one was submitted for June. It was also discussed that “NOH” was in competition with Lifeline. Therefore, Stephanie W made a motion to amend the bylaws to delete the notes of hope, it was seconded and passed.
  • New Preamble and Bylaws for Region 8 – a committee is needed to update our bylaws. This topic was tabled for July’s meeting due to time constraints.

Committee Reports:

  • Group Outreach – Nancy C received a call from a Tallahoma/McMinnville group to possibly be part of MTI. We suggested they make a decision to affiliate with MTI or Chattanooga. She received a call from someone that wants to start a meeting in Hendersonville.
  • Public Information/Professional Outreach – Danny reported Lifeline is available for people to take them to their doctors appointment. He asked if we should remove them as World Service has asked us not to share Lifeline. We decided not to as this request was just for members. Danny asked for suggestions to get ready for Recovery Fest.
