Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Director of Corporate Services is the Senior Financial Officer in the Department. The position is responsible for coordinating, implementing and monitoring financial policies and procedures in order to provide effective control and reporting of all government expenditures and revenues within the Department. The Director is responsible for a number of core corporate management functions that include departmental planning, financial and human resource management, support for increase the financial capacity and the department-wide financial risk management. The incumbent provides a full range of accounting services, negotiating and enforces several agreements; including RCMP contracts to ensure the government’s interests are protected. The Director is also required to ensure appropriate consideration is given to management information projects and systems.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Commerce, Business Administration and an accounting designation such as CGA, CA, CMA with a minimum of 5 years of progressive related work experience. You should have 2 years previous experience in supervising and managing both human and financial resources to achieve organizational objectives. The ability to develop and deliver effective presentation such as written and verbal skills in terms of drafting documents for Financial Management Board submissions is required including Financial Management skills, the incumbent must be able to effectively lead and participate in often high financial profile and high impact projects such as Capital projects. Excellent knowledge of the full range of financial functions including financial and management accounting, contract management, internal audit procedures and financial information system. In leading a high profile division, strong leadership skills are required for team building and creative group problem solving. Financial analysis skills are required to utilize the Department’s resources ti deliver cost effective programs to serve the public.

This position is a senior management position not included in the Nunavut Employees Union and has a salary range of $107,751.00 to $153,930.00 per annum, plus a Northern Allowance of $15,016.00 per annum.
