36Abstract
The goal of this practical thesis is to produce a plan of development for the time period of 2008-2012for the communal Youth theatre in Masala, Kirkkonummi.The product, Development Plan answers to questions about what is the aim of the theatres functions in the future, what resources should be increased so that the activity could respond to the increasing demand and how it can be made sure, that the quality of the work doesn’t weaken even if the people who now are taking the most responsibility should gradually step aside.
The theoretical basis of this study lies in the Developmental Work Research by Yrjö Engeström as well as in the lecture notes from the course of Cultural Administration Theory held by Eero Kärkkäinen in Humak University of Applies Sciences.
As other informational sources are documents by the Ministry of Education and by the National Board of Education, the home pages of Kirkkonummi municipality, the archives of the Relief Association of Masala Youth Theatre as well as the 18 years experience as a member of Masala Youth Theatre being used.
The plan of development is made in spring 2008.
As a basis of analysis of the need of development the product presents the history and series of development stages of Masala Youth Theatre as well as the challenges the theatre is dealing with at the moment.
Through a SWOT-analysis are the propositions of development and a future vision being made.
As a developmental proposition it is suggested that the Masala Youth Theatre starts a children’s theatre program, the theatres premises are being renovated to meet the needs of theatre activity, the nearby cultivated area is being preserved for the theatres needs, a stage manager is being appointed, anoutdoor storage room is being built outside and the theatre starts providing Basic Education in the Arts.
The report describes the contents of the plan of development and its theoretical and informational basis as well as the process of conducting the plan. As a closure the functionality of the product as well as the quality of the whole process is being evaluated.
