Pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-22-9.5, ______County requests approval for participation in the installment plan for the payment of property taxes with respect to homesteads (as defined in Ind. Code 6-1.1-20.9) for the 2007 pay 2008 obligation.

Only residential property owners meeting the following criteria will be eligible for the payment plan:

1.  Taxpayer must be owner-occupant of an Indiana homestead as defined in Ind. Code 6-1.1-20.9.

2.  Taxpayer must agree that the entire amount of their 2008 tax obligation will be fully paid on or before the date of the final installment payment, April 10, 2009.

The installment payment plan for the 2008 real property tax obligation is as follows:

1. A qualified taxpayer’s real property tax obligation for 2007 pay 2008 shall be divided into six equal installments.

2. The first installment payment will be due on November 10, 2008.

The second installment payment will be due on December 10, 2008.

The third installment payment will be due on January 10, 2009.

The fourth installment payment will be due on February 10, 2009.

The fifth installment payment will be due on March 10, 2009.

The sixth installment payment will be due on April 10, 2009.

3. Qualified taxpayers participating in this installment plan may pay their tax liability in any number of installments up to a maximum of six payments. If a qualified taxpayer requests fewer than six payments, then their tax liability shall be divided equally into the number of installments requested. Qualified taxpayers can decide to pay the bill in full at any time during the installment period.

Attached hereto and incorporated herein is a copy of Resolution No. ______, 2008, which was approved by the County Council on ______, 2008.
