Approval of Minutes: September 2, 2014

Motion made by Mr. Madsen and supported by Mr. Reese to approve the minutes of the last meeting (September 2, 2014)…passed unanimously (Mr. Butterfield absent).

Allowance of Bills: (See Book)

Motion made by Reese and supported by Imdieke to approve the Bills (See Book) … passed unanimously (Mr. Butterfield absent).

Cancellation of Warrants: (See Book)

Motion made by Madsen and supported by Reese to approve the Cancellation of Warrants (See Book) … passed unanimously (Mr. Butterfield absent).

GENERAL BUSINESS DISCUSSION/UPDATES

A. MNSure Update - Ann Stehn, Director

Ms. Stehn introduced in the Income Maintenance staff who were present at today's meeting. Information was provided on the MNSure Program - See attached presentation. The next MNSure open enrollment period will be in November of 2014. See www.mnsure.org

B. Preparedness Update - Ann Stehn, Director

Ms. Stehn presented information on the importance of having a personal emergency plan in place. Several emergency preparedness videos from Ready.gov were viewed. Ready.gov has many resources for both individuals and businesses. HSS staff members Corrine Torkelson, Karen Ampe, Chery Johnson and Denise Kragenbring have been working on Emergency Preparedness for the Department and the clients we serve. The department receives a small amount of federal dollars to do work in this area.

Announcements:

Minnesota DHS Commissioner Lucinda Jesson will be at the HHS Building in Willmar this Friday for a Mental Health forum from 11am to 12:30pm.

Andrea Carruthers, Operations Manager for the north area, has joined SPCC.

The SPCC Health Guide began her work yesterday.

Mr. Imdieke noted a follow-up from last meeting, a new staff educator has joined the U of M Extension Service.

Mr. Shuck called for any further agenda items. With none forthcoming, Mr. Shuck adjourned the Kandiyohi County Human Services Committee Meeting at 9:34am.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the foregoing record is a true and accurate recording of the official actions and recommendations of the County Board and as such constitutes the official minutes thereof. Payment of assistance, relief, and claims as indicated in these minutes is hereby ordered. The questions were on the adoption of the resolution and the role being called were:
