Parent Advisory Council - A Way for You to Contribute to the Success of Our School and Your Student(s)

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is an organization whose purpose and goals are to strengthen, enhance, and encourage the educational and social environments of PSMS by complementing the school curriculum with additional opportunities for parents/guardians, teachers, and students to learn, socialize, communicate and grow.PAC purchased 30 HP Stream tablets last year and plans to make another technology purchase if everything goes well this year.

When your student attends a dance, gets snacks at a ballgame, is excited about Picture Day or earns prizes by taking part in our annual candy sale, you can thank our Parent Advisory Council! We don’t often realize the work that goes on behind the scenes to give our students the extra support that they need to have a successful and satisfying and yes, FUN, school year.

PAC is always looking for volunteers to assist in school projects and events. This year PAC will be sponsoring or assisting in the following:

  • Picture Days- Two volunteers are needed on these days to assist photographers and students.
  • Picture Retake Day is October 27, 2015
  • Spring Pictures are scheduled for March 25, 2016.
  • The World’s Finest Chocolate Sale is from October 13-30, 2015. This is the major fundraiser of the year and requires ten volunteers.
  • The money that students collect from candy sales is collected and counted three days each week during the sale.
  • Volunteers are also needed to distribute candy and track sales.
  • Basketball Concessions – PAC sells concessions during four games each year.
  • Three to five volunteers are needed each game to sell food and drinks, count money and take an ending inventory.
  • Sweetheart Dance – This after school dance is typically the week of Valentine’s Day. PAC is responsible for all aspects of this dance, so 10-12 volunteers are needed
  • Volunteers will take tickets for admission, serve concessions, sell flowers, and take “Buddy Pictures.” This is PAC’s largest fundraiser.
  • 8th Grade Promotion- Four parents of 8th grade students are needed to work with Mrs. Moore to make the Eighth Grade Promotion Event enjoyable and memorable for parents and students.
  • If you are not sure at this time how you would like to help, you can be an “On Call Volunteer”.
  • We will contact you to see if you are available when volunteers are needed. Let us know the best way to contact you quickly-email, cell number, etc.

If you would like to contribute your time to any of these activities, please give the school a call!
