Minutes for September 17, 2015

LOCATION: Heidi Lange called the meeting to order at 3:36pm in the Career Center.

AGENDA: Approved. Chelyse Chappell made a motion to approve the agenda, Rachel Kagan seconded.

MINUTES: Approved. Rachel Kagan made a motion to approve the minutes from the May 14, 2015 meeting, Cindy Sypherd seconded.

PRESENT: Heidi Lange, Chelyse Chappell, Suzanne White, Cindy Sypherd, Rachel Kagan, Carrie Dawes, Julie Reyna.

REPORTS:

Student Leadership: Tabled. No students attended.

Teacher Representatives: Rachel Kagan reported. Changes in Administration; Michelle John has accepted a position at the District Office. New Principal Karla Sandrin will start on 9/21. There are now two VP’s; John Christie and Carrie Dawes. “Club Rush” will be on 9/18 ~ all PHS clubs will have a booth on the lawn for students to check out, there’s about 7-10 different clubs on campus. Homecoming will be 10/16, Disney Themes by class. Link Crew has been very active in supporting the incoming Freshman class this year. Negotiations with TAP and D.O. have still not come to an agreement, both parties will meet with a mediator on 9/23. Athletics have gotten off to a great start.

Principal’s Report: VP Carrie Dawes reported. PHS’s new Principal is Karla Sandrin and will start officially on 9/21. Michelle John will help in the transitions process. Hired a new math teacher. Link Crew has been involved with Kindergarten classes in the district, focusing on attendance and “how to became a Bobcat”. This has been very positive. Happy to report there is a strong leadership group this year.

Treasurer’s Report: Chelyse Chappell reported. Current balance is $1,678.87. Discussed eScrip; Cindy mentioned those who participate in this program need to renew their eScrip account yearly. This might account for the declining eScrip income. Cindy will get info to Suzanne who will put this information out on the PHS PTSO Facebook page.

NEW BUSINESS: Chico Bag Fundraiser: Heidi has connected with Mrs. Martin and they are working on a logo. The PTSO and Leadership plan to team up and do this fundraiser together. The PTSO will be able to sell these bags at the PHS Student Store and at the PHS Football games. The profit of this fundraiser will be split 50/50. Labels for Education: There’s a balance of points available for the PTSO to purchase items for the school, however we’re having trouble transferring the points to a current PTSO account. Cindy is working on this. DAC: not sure yet if there will be a DAC group this year for our parents to attend. NEW~~PHS PTSO Facebook page for all to “like” and stay updated with what’s happening at PHS.

OLD BUSINESS: Bank Signatures: Follow up with Becky Nelson, PTSO Secretary.
