Preparation for the Macau Congress
Dear Provincial Coordinators,
Greetings of Peace from Hong Kong!
According to the update from China Organizing Committee (COC) the number of overseas (outside ChinaProvince) partcipants have exceeded 100 and there are some more registrations expected to come soon. Thank you very much for your effort.
To make it successful, your preparation for the Congress is indeed very important. Here is a checklist/guideline for you:
-Bring your own national flag and national song (to play on CD or MP3) for the opening ceremony.
-Similar to the last Congress in Seoul, the provincial reports will be done in Quiz form and therefore each province please nominate 2 representatives to seat on each competition panel, preferably one of them with sound English-speaking. The first Quiz session will start right after the opening ceremoney; hence, please submit your provincial report now if you haven’t and you had better read all provincial reports before coming to Macau!
-In response to the second topic “Communion in lay family of the Salesian Cooperators” the COC recommended to do a role-play from each province according to the following assignment to your province; and again, the first role-play will start after the opening ceremoney, so you had better prepare in advance.
Province / Role-play / Food for thoughtCIN / Parent-child interaction / ·goodnight story/prayer
·listen to the parents/children
·how to animate the young generation to join Sunday Mass together with the family
FIN / Peer group vs. family / ·how to select peer group
·re-think why the young people talk to peers rather than family members
FIS / Faith vs. money / ·cultivating the young generation... to be a good citizen, to answer God’s calling
GIA / Living out the spirit of Don Bosco / ·when serving the parish
·in daily life such as dinner and night prayer
KOR / In ASC / ·encourage active participation of family members to the work of ASC
THA / Work vs. family / ·the art of living together... how to share household work
·why today so many people choose not to marry?
other provinces are not assigned considering the small number of participantsbut they are more than welcome to form their own role-play team or simply share their own insights by then.
-the time allowance for each of the above role-play will be 5 min. only, and it can be drama/pantomime/talk show/etc. but someone may have to summarize the key points after that (if necessary).
-In response to the third topic “Communion in Saleisan Family” the COC recommend to do a “Salesian Family Drama”, about 15 min. long. It will be collective participation of all provinces and speak in English. The script and role assignment will be given to each province by early May… watch out!
Thanks be to the excellent work of the COC. Yet, let’s all pray to the Holy Spirit and Our Lady Mary!
Sincerely yours in Don Bosco,
Philip Yu
