1.Reason for Policy

This policy provides guidelines for content creation and publishing within the Micro Focus unified Marketplace

2.Policy Statement

The unified Micro Focus Marketplace serves to increase Micro Focus product capability via add-ons and extensions.

3.Scope

This policy applies to independent developers, Micro Focus employees, and Partners of any level, publishing content to the Micro Focus Marketplace

4.Definitions

Product add-ons and extensions / Increases the capability of an existing product feature. The availability of product add-on and extensions allow Micro Focus products to provide our customers with the latest capability sets for existing product features. This capability is similar to new anti-virus definitions being downloaded and added to an Anti-virus detection application.
App cost (Free, Paid, Free with Micro Focus product) / The new product add-ons and extensions are available to all customers based on how the app is configured when uploaded:
  1. Free
  2. Requires login but any user can sign up for a free Software passport or MyAccount account
  3. Free, but requires valid Micro Focus product to download
  4. Requires Software Passport login
  5. Logged in user must currently own a supported version of the particular Micro Focus product the app integrates with
  6. Have a valid support contract for the product in question with a valid SAID
  7. Paid
  8. Requires all above plus user must pay for the app via Avangate

Product Add-on & Extension Types / There are FOUR different types of Free and Paid apps:
STANDARD content: This Micro Focus generated content is FREE of charge. It is created by Micro Focus R&D and downloaded by the customer via the unified Marketplace (either manually through the Micro Focus marketplace or automatically through a connector). Customers who install this content receive support in accordance with their Micro Focus core product support contract.
PREMIUM content: This Micro Focus generated content can be PURCHASED through standard Micro Focus sales channels. It is created by Micro Focus R&D and downloaded by the customer via the unified Marketplace (either manually through the Micro Focus marketplace or automatically through a connector). Customers who install this content receive support in accordance with their Micro Focus core product support contract.
Community content: This content is created and submitted by a Micro Focus employee or a customer. Micro Focus does not verify or support this content. Customers with issues should be referred to the Micro Focus Community Content discussion forums.
Partner content: Refers to content provided by official Micro Focus TAP partners. Micro Focus does not support this content. Customers should be referred to the partner’s support email/phone number or Micro Focus discussion forum for any issues related to this content.
Product Add-on and Extension Categories / Technical Definition
These product add-ons / extensions allow Micro Focus Products to efficiently discover, interrogate, and control various systems, devices, and networks.

Non-Technical Definition
This encompasses information, data, and instructions that help customers derive additional value from Micro Focus product add-ons and extensions.
Examples:
* Product documentation pertaining to add-ons / extensions
* Best practices pertaining to add-ons / extensions
* How-to videos pertaining to add-ons / extensions
* Blogs pertaining to add-ons / extensions
* Wikis pertaining to add-ons / extensions
* SDKs (Software Developer Kits) pertaining to add-ons / extensions
Additional Definitions
* Add-on and Extensions requires the core product in order to function and provide value. The add-on is therefore consumed by the core product.
* Add-on and Extensions cannot be standalone code that adds functionality to a product.
* Scripts may be part of an Add-on and Extension package as long as they use existing binaries or executables to perform the intended function.
* Add-on and Extensions cannot add new features to the product but is rather used to extend current functionality. Instead, Add-on and Extensions are consumed by an existing software framework (i.e. A new antivirus for an Antivirus application).
* Add-on and Extensions cannot include components of a product that are licensed unless the components are licensed themselves.

5.Procedures

5.1 Support

Non-Micro Focus Community Content Support (Partner or independent developer content)

/ Micro Focus does not test, certify or support NON-Micro Focus community content. Customers must contact the original submitter of the community content directly if any support, configuration or usability questions arise. All customers should back up all appropriate <product name> files before applying any community content.
