MAKEUP PROCEDURE*

Missed work must be made up in a timely manner. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange the make-up of missed homework/classwork, quizzes, tests, labs, etc upon their return to school.

In cases of extended absence or extenuating circumstances, modification of this policy may be made as needed. A pattern of absences on test or project due dates will necessitate a discussion with guidance and parents/guardians.

EXTRA HELP

Extra help will be available most days before or after school. Schedule to be determined.

GENERAL INFORMATION*

§  Pencil and eraser required daily

§  Agenda book--it is the student’s responsibility to record all assignments and ask for clarification as needed. Assignments will be posted in the classroom and on the QPS Aspen website.

§  Science Notebook should be neat, organized & up-to-date. Notebooks will be evaluated throughout the term

§  All work should be labeled with the student’s full name, division, date, and title of assignment

§  Textbooks must be covered within 2 days of receipt

§  The Internet will be used under close supervision throughout the year. Please notify teacher of any concerns.

DISCIPLINE

Respect - an atmosphere of respect is essential for learning to take place.

Any student who does not follow school/class rules may be required to report after school. Students told to report after school for disciplinary issues (tardiness, disruptive behavior, unprepared etc.) are to stay that day unless prior arrangements are made before dismissal. Failing to do so may result in an office detention. In the event of repeated minor offences or disruptions/disrespect that results in the student being sent to the office, a formal office detention will be assigned and the parent/guardian will be contacted to discuss the problem.

FIELD EXPERIENCES & GUEST SPEAKERS

·  Students will occasionally work outside the school building as part of their learning experience.

·  Guest speakers may visit our classroom to share their scientific expertise.

·  Students may attend field trips during the year.

*Adjustments may be made in this syllabus to meet student needs. See Individual Student Education Plans or 504 Plans for modification where applicable.
