Director’s Notes for Marshall
· Volleyball players – the bus for Marshall will leave the high school (gym)at 4:30pm. We will provide Subway sandwiches, chips and drinks for you on the bus to Marshall. You are responsible for bringing your instruments, your shoes, your bags, etc. The band room WILL NOT BE OPEN. The uniforms will be on the trailer when you get to Marshall. Please come to Marshall prepared to perform. The band will be focused and ready to go when you get there and we will need to have you focused as well. We want to wish you good luck during your tournament play during the day. GO DUTCH!
· The Pursuit of Excellence consists of two parts. Every band is given the opportunity to work with three of the judges one on one during an afternoon clinic. At the clinic we will rehearse the music, work on sections that the judges would like to see and hear, and we will LISTEN to their comments and get their input. The session will last for about and hour and 30 minutes.
o You will need to wear MTX’s AND your section t-shirts at the clinic. If your section does not have a t-shirt your section must wear matching shirts – white?
o Full rehearsal discipline will be expected during the clinic. Full concentration with No talking.
o Treat the judges with respect. Set a good impression. They will be judging you in the evening so impress them in the afternoon!
· The evening show begins at 5:30. This show classifies bands according to the number of people in the hornline and percussion section so we are in the LARGEST CLASS. Lincoln is the best band in South Dakota. They never finish lower than 1st or 2nd at any contest. Rosemount, Irondale and Eden Prairie are three of the TOP bands in Minnesota. Period. They are some of the best in the COUNTRY! As you can see, we are as always, in the biggest and most difficult class. It is the BEST place to be because we CAN compete with anyone.
It is – once again – time for the miracle that is known as THE PRIDE OF THE DUTCHMEN MARCHING BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE ARE TRADITION
