Screening of child/youth workers in the MCSA (RSA)

On the matter regarding screening: Whilst it has been my desire to confidently give a going ahead with regards to screening, however this is not possible right now, until certain issues have cleared officially by the authorities concerned. Therefore, the process for screening against the sexual offenders act is not ready for processing at this stage due to their internal challenges. However, I can now confidently advise you to go ahead with the completion of Form 30 as attached.

Please note the following:

·The attached Form must be completed by the every member at the circuit/society or project level who is working with children or has opportunities of being with children on their own.

·Reprint the form on a Church letterhead

·All people working with children must complete the form

·Each person must attach a copy of the Identity document/foreigners their pass ports and or asylum documents.

·The person who is accountable at circuit/society or project level collects completed forms and mails them to the address as stated on the form.

·Ensure that a covering letter and a return address is written on the envelope.

·Within 12 to 21 days the Gov. office will send you information and letters of notices.

·The central office files this information for future reference– The office also gets a “letter of notice”; this then serves as the official document in regards to the Child Protection Register check.

·In regard to child-minders and or ECD practitioners, the documents can be copied for employment purposes.

·Should you require further information and explanation, you are encouraged to invite someone from the Department of Social Welfare/ or Justice to explain further.

The only cost to this process is postage. I will continue giving you updates about progress in terms of compliance. May God bless your meeting and may the outcomes of your deliberation bear fruit.

NB: We need to facilitate this piece of work with other member countries of the MCSA – we call on to the district youth unit to help in this regard.
