/ Week of December 5th – December 9th, 2011 /

Please make sure your child is reading their library books every night. 64 points are due by this Friday.
MAP testing continues this week as follows:
  • Mrs. Chumley’s homeroom - math testing on 12/6 and language testing 12/9.
  • Mrs. Huff’s homeroom – math testing on 12/7 and language testing 12/12.
  • Mr. Shouse’s homeroom- math testing on 12/8 and language testing 12/13.
Make sure your child is NOT ABSENT OR TARDY. Also, make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast. Please talk to your child about trying their best. Each student has a goal for the MAP scores. Students who meet their individual RIT goals will be invited to special activities and celebrations.

Hunter Hills is having a fundraiser to help a student who is critically ill. We will be having a spaghetti supper this Friday (see attached flyer.) Each grade level will have a gift basket to be auctioned at the supper. 5th grade’s basket theme is, and we are asking each student to bring in $1 by Wednesday to help purchase items for the basket.

Santa Shop – December 6th – 9th in library – Students can purchase Christmas gifts.
Students have math homework EVERY Monday – Thursday. In math, every lesson connects to the next, so it is very important to complete all homework to prevent getting behind. When students get behind in math, it can be VERY DIFFICULT TO CATCH UP.
Reading—Weare beginning the chapter book Johnny Tremain. For the next several weeks your child will not be bringing a reading book home and we will not be in our normal routine. I only have 32 copies of the book which means each class will have to share. I cannot allow students to bring copies of the book home. If your child is absent they must come to me and borrow the book during the day to catch up on any part of the story they missed.
We are still collecting pop tabs and box tops. Please send those
in to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Folders come home EVERY MONDAY! Please check folder on Monday night and sign the back. Review all graded assignments so you will know how your child is doing. Also, please complete and return anything that needs to be sent back to school. FOLDERS AND SIGNED NEWSLETTERS SHOULD BE RETURNED ON FRIDAY!
FABULOUS FRIDAYS – Every other Friday, we are going to set aside some time in the afternoon to celebrate students who complete all their assignments for the two week period. We will be having a special snack and activity. Make sure your child completes all assignments, so they can be a part of the celebration. Assignments are listed on the weekly newsletter which is also posted online.
