20.  Oregon Trail: a historical route to the western United States extending from various cities on the Missouri River to Oregon and the West coast.

22.  oxen: a bull that was used to pull wagons and farm machinery.

23.  pioneer: someone who explores or goes to live in a place previously unexplored or uninhabited.

24.  Prairie Schooner: another word for the covered wagons the settlers used to travel west in.

25.  ransom: money paid for the return of something or someone

26.  scarce: not much at all or just a small amount available

27.  scow: large flat boats that took wagons across some of the rivers.
