Alumni Update
Public Relations & Networking
/Membership / Marc: Kim Requa has two meetings set up in Olympia and is working to schedule more. There are no mailed registrations for the conference at this time. It is anticipated that registrations will come in close to the deadline. Please encourage participation from other TRiO programs.
Marc: Should there be an alumni session at the CWU state conference to discuss how alumni who currently work within the TRiO community can promote TRiO?
Dean: Should there be a non-TRiO board member? (i.e.) Someone from another grant, community business owner, etc.
Dean: New board members need to decide which committee they would like to serve on. Tentatively, Joe Howell would like to serve on the Membership committee and Lonni Rodriguez-Funk, on the Public Relations & Networking committee.
Dean: Weiya Lieng, State GEARUP director would like to partner on joint professional development and advocacy efforts. / Board will look into alumni attending sessions or perhaps organizing an alumni session. The registration fee for participating alumni will be waived.
The Board will take time at the next meeting to decide what member additions would be most helpful to the board, what we want the board to look like and what services we would want a non-TRiO member to provide.
At the next board meeting, Joe and Lonni will share which committee they have chosen to serve on.
Dean will see if Weiya Lieng or associates would be interested in coming to the State Conference at CWU to participate in workshops conducted by Heather Valentine.
