1. INTRODUCTION:
During the process of these assignment individual consultation have been made, and several buildings where visited so as to obtain pictures, information, and to observe the physical situation of the various building.
2. Summary:
The primary essence of this assignment is to commend about the international style in the architecture of Yola (the nouveau riche trend in the architecture of Yola), this type of architecture is being referred to as architecture of the riches, mostly found in residential buildings, among the various elements that come together and form these architecture include, expensive building materials, expensive labor, ornamentation, roofing, windows and doors, etc.
3. THE NOUVEAU RICHE TREND IN THE ARCHITECTURE OF YOLA:
With the introduction of the international style in Nigeria, the landscape of various part of Nigeria have changed, taking Yola as an example in the 15 to 16 centuries the landscape of Yola is seventy percent poor than today.
In the process of these changed in landscape introduced by the international style, nouveau riche architecture as part, comes in to being with certain characteristics as follows:

2. wall finishing
3. windows
4. doors
5. ornamentation
6. orientation
7. labor
8. maintenance
1. METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION:
the method of construction involved in the nouveau riche architecture include the use of expensive building materials and expensive labor i.e. the diameter of reinforcement bars, complex plans which leads to excessive wastage of materials, thickness of foundations, slabs, and
Floors. As in figs below:
2. WALL FINISHING:
method of wall finishing in the nouveau riche architecture of Yola involves the use of expensive wall finishing materials, examples include, water base paint, stucco paint, marbles, marblelization etc. as shown in fig below:

3. WINDOWS:
In the nouveau riche architecture of Yola, a semi circular, rectangular, and some times circular window are being used as shown in fig below:

4. Doors: The various types of doors normally used in the nouveau rich architecture of Yola are expensive doors, some times fond bullets prove, rating hundred of thousands in price, as shown in fig below:

5. ORNAMENTATION:
Among the characteristics of the nouveau riche architecture in Yola include putting more emphasis on ornamentation, as shown in fig below:

6. Location:
The various residential buildings that posses certain characteristics to be classified as an example of the nouveau riche architecture are normally found around the government residential areas. E.g. commissioners quarters, government House Street.

7. ORIENTATION:
orientation of the various building that can be classified as an example of the nouveau riche architecture in Yola are normally located close to the main access road, with there entrances facing the main access not the minor access as shown below:

8. LABOR:
The normal labor used in those buildings that are referred to as an example of nouveau rich architecture compare to the ordinary building labor are more expensive, ranging 40-50 percent higher.

GENERAL COMMEND:
Among the various characteristics that needs to be commend include the following:
a. renovation
b. maintenance
c. relation to environment
d. affordability
a. RENOVATION:
During the process of renovation of these types of buildings a lot of damages have to be made, such damages include breaking ceramic tiles, distortion of wall finishing, changing of electrical fittings etc. As shown below:

b. MAINTENANCE:
high level of maintenance is required in such type of buildings, and if the dilapidation occurs the cost of maintenance will be very high because of the materials used in the construction (imported materials), among the various things to be avoided include roof leakage, which leads to damage of ceiling (pop), and wall finishing( wall screading). As shown below:

c. RELATION TO ENVIRONMENT:
Some times the various buildings that are being referred to as an example of nouveau riche architecture are not in harmony with the environment because of the climatic condition of Yola ( excessive sunshine with temperature ranging 38-48 degree cent around march to June), due to the percentage of glasses used in the various buildings and the ornamentation.

d. AFFORDABILITY:
Considering the fact that, most of the building that are referred to as an example of nouveau architecture in Yola have been developed but there are some that are being abandon by the clients due to un-affordability.
18. CONCLUSION:
The nouveau riche style in the architecture of Yola has covered 60 percent of the building in the government residential areas, and some other part of the non government residential areas. And still most of the clients in Yola are in the position to build houses that can be referred to as an example of nouveau rich architecture.
