Sixth Form News

Good news from December:

The Senior Maths Challenge Team came third (behind 2 independent schools) in the Staffordshire heats of the competition. They equipped themselves very well and are quite rightly proud of their achievement. Also and importantly, they enjoyed themselves!Congratulations to Andreas Georgiou, Fiona Gibson, Reuben Tinsdeall and Emily Green.

Year 13 students are well under way with the UCAS process. 114 applications were sent before the end of the Autumn term and more will go before the deadline of 15th January. The Sixth Form tutors have done an amazing job of producing high quality references under a very tight time deadline. We continue to support students applying for higher level apprenticeships, Gap Year opportunities or the Services.

Ben Abell and Alex Capper won the annual trolley dash on the last day of term. As well as winning the event, Ben and Alex along with Dan Slater also did an excellent job of organising the day. Congratulations also to Peter Skerritt and Jake Findonwho won the fancy dress for their Top Gun inspired outfits.

The new team of Sixth Form Prefects have completed their trial phase successfully and are now working alongside the Senior Five to support events in school.

In sporting activities, we must praise Harry Yates for his continuing success as part of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League and Matt Evans for his participation in the England swimming competition and his regular participation in local competitions.

Jade McArdle has been selected onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme including the National Age Group Squad (NAGS) Academy by England Hockey. This is a fantastic achievement.
