LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS INSTRUCTIONS
The following scholarships are sponsored by local community and school organizations for NRHS seniors only.
Read the criteria for each scholarship carefully to determine the scholarship(s) for which you are eligible.
Some scholarships require additional information and/or an essay.
If a Student Aid Report (SAR) is required, print the sheet that has the EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) from your completed FAFSA at fafsa.gov.
Please be sure to pay extra attention when writing your personal statement as the various sponsors invest a lot of value on this part of the application. Write your statement, proofread it, twice, and rewrite if necessary. Please type or print in black ink.
Steps for completing the NRHS Scholarship Application: Please follow each step.
- Complete NRHS scholarship application form, you must make copies for EACH scholarship application you’re applying for.
- Identify the scholarship that you are applying for by writing the name of the scholarship on each application cover sheet.
- Include a copy of your personal statement,transcript, and a copy of your ACT/SAT scores, available online at or each of your applications.
- Read and add additional requirements from the criteria for each scholarship, if it applies.
- Staple each packet individually.
- Do a complete and accurate job of filling out the application. Make sure it is as neat as possible. Review the application form in its entirety before completing it. If you have any questions, please check with Mrs. Matta or your counselor immediately.
- Turn in COMPLETED packets to the NRHS Guidance Department (Mrs. Matta) no later than March 21, 2018 by 3:00 p.m.
- Each organization will select the recipient(s). Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards Breakfast Ceremony on June 1, 2018.

APPLICANT’S PERSONAL STATEMENT
This personal statement MUST be included in every application packet.
Your typed personal statement is very important to the application process. It is to be typed – 2 pages or less (double spaced) and should be attached to each application. It should include informationthat would help us in knowing you and determining your eligibility and need. Discuss your higher education goals and reasons for choosing them, your long-term plans for after post-secondary graduation, and any financial need. Please include any special circumstances that may contribute to your need or share any life experiences that have contributed to where you are today. This personal statement MUST be included in every application packet.
