2nd Grade Homework Assignments

Please assist your child in making sure that all homeworkpages haveyour child’s name, are initialed by you and stapled or paper clipped together. Practicing new skills and concepts learned in the classroom by completing homework is important for your child because… PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT!

RELIGION

We have completed Sadlier Chapter 5, Confirmation. With your child, please review the pages with emphasis on the “Take Home” on page 77. As always, the pages are yours to keep.

LANGUAGE ARTS

We have finished Unit 2 and will be taking the assessment test next week. No spelling or Backpack pages – please do the Reading Log – thanks

Reading Log: Please assist your child in completing the attached Weekly Reading Log. Students should have a mixture of silent read, read to you and you read to them. The goal is 20 minutes or more each day!

MATH

We continue Chapter 4, 2-Digit Addition.

Math Homework: Please assist your child as needed to complete the following math homework:

RELIGIOUS ARTWORK!

Enclosed in your child’s backpack is the 2017 Poster Contest sponsored by the Diocese of San Bernardino Office of Catholic Schools. The theme this year is “We Are Called…to be People of Hope.” We have talked in class about the meaning of the theme. The posters will be judged and the winners will be displayed at the Catholic Schools Week dinner.

Homework: Please assist your child as needed in designing and completing the poster. Any art medium such as colored pencils, paint, crayon, water color, chalk, textiles may be used.

Please be sure to fill out the information on the back of the poster. Posters are due by Wednesday, 11/16. Thank you!

Please Note…

  1. This Friday, 11/11 @8:45amVeterans Day Masshosted by our 5th grade friends. If possible, please let me know if your student is bringing a Veteran to Mass. Also, please assist your student(s) in remembering to bring a canned or boxed food item for the offertory. All food collected helps feed needy people in our community. We hope to see you and yours at our Mass next Wednesday!
  1. Next Wednesday, 11/16, 8:435am SHA Thanksgiving Mass. This Mass will be extra special as we celebrate all the wonderful blessings we share. Please help your child remember to bring a canned or boxed food item for the offertory. As always, you and yours are most welcome to join us!
  1. Holy Name of Jesus Parish will host a Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, 11/26, at 9:00am. This will be a multi-cultural celebration and our church is looking for people to read a Prayer of the Faithful in their native language. Please contact me if you’d like to help! Thank you!
  1. We are short a few seats for our field trip to Asistencia Villa next Tuesday, 11/15. We are also missing some permission slips so hopefully it’ll all work out – if you are a driver, please let us know ASAP if for some reason your availability changes. If necessary, drivers can make two trips since Asistencia is just down the street.
  1. YAY US! 2nd grade won the Fall Box Tops contest and will be celebrating with a Pizza Party this Friday at 2:00pm. Thank you to Mrs. Ramirez for coordinating the party! We will also be celebrating Anika’s birthday so there’ll be cupcakes for dessert
