Non-Financial, Work-based Rewards (-no money involved!)
- Send a ‘Thank you’ card/letter/e-mail from you personally or from a top boss
- Publish a public thank you/recognition in your company newsletter or via the intranet
- Invite top brass to your team meeting to publicly thank your team member face to face
- Allow the chance for increased empowerment/decision making (-and /or other job enrichment activities, e.g. chance to work/lead on a particular project, be boss for the day, represent your area at an interdepartmental meeting etc)
- Write & post them a work-related LinkedIn recommendation or endorse them for a skill
- Agree to cover their late start/early finish/extended lunch break from shift
- Reserve them a top, executive parking space for the week (-or just a space if they don’t normally get one!)
- Give the ability to trade or pass over their least favourite task for the day/week with you.
- Grant a ‘work from home day’ pass for them to use on the day of their choice
- Offer increased flexible working hours for a set amount of time
- Offer a job shadow opportunity in a role they aspire to work in
- Offer of a free coaching session with a manager of their choice
- Grant ‘An Audience with…’ voucher (-individual of their choice) for a chance to meet up with and ask questions of a key member of staff, e.g. CEO
- Get the whole team to honour the individual’s favourite charity/cause in a voluntary activity which benefits their chosen cause
- Have others in the office ‘wait on them’ all week – e.g. collect their post/photo-copying, make their brews, get their lunch etc.
- Decorate their desk/work area with banners, balloons, streamers etc. as a public ‘surprise’ thank you/recognition
- Offer ‘happy hour’ passes during the week to include rewards such as playing their favourite music in the office, diverting their phone to yours etc.
- Give them free reign to pick the office and/or team meeting discussion topics for the week
- Offer a space on an upcoming internal training event of their choice
- Organise free VIP access to an Industry conference, event, meeting etc. of their choice
- Allow them to have a casual ‘dress down’ day on a day of their choosing
- Seek freebie donations from corporate sponsors/clients that you can give out as rewards
- Offer them flexible, first choice scheduling of holidays where possible
- Make them responsible for recognising the next act of outstanding Client Care in the team, including choosing and awarding their reward
- Appoint them as ‘Client Care Champion’ for the week, complete with home-made crown!
- Devise a peer nomination scheme, where employees are encouraged to nominate their peers for recognition.
Financial, Work-based Rewards (-Varying Costs involved!)
- Take your Client Care superstars out for a slap up, VIP meal
- Award a trophy, certificate of achievement or medal in recognition of their efforts
- Create a “performance points” system that enables employees to redeem points for cash, prizes or paid time off
- Give gift vouchers or tickets to movies, sporting events, concerts etc.
- Bring in the professionals to give Indian Head Massages, hand massages, manicuresetc to your superstars
- Organise an Annual Awards Dinner where winners throughout the year battle it out for recognition in a ‘BAFTA’s style ceremony.
- Create a ‘Wall of Fame’ in a public place (e.g. Canteen, reception etc) and put up photographs in frames of all those who’ve been recognised along with a short summary of why they’ve been noticed
- Offer a range of ‘free’ services (-chores) to those who’ve been recognised that month such as dry-cleaning, gardening, ironing, car valet etc
- Operate a monthly, quarterly or annual cash incentive/bonus system
- Bring in or bake cakes, order pizzas or have a ‘food themed’ day for a successful team initiative/incentive
- Team trip out with a difference including things such as: a trip to the theatre, go to watch a TV programme being filmed as part of the audience, Go Ape Zip Wire Adventure,team involvement in a community or charitable event (e.g Attend a walkathon together with all fees paid and donate additional funds on the team’s behalf)., Tough Mudder Challenge (-not for the faint hearted though!), organised Team Building event, a day at the Zoo, go on a picnic, arrange a team treasure hunt etc.
- Buy and inscribe a ‘fitting’ book as a personal gift
- Buy the person something to use in his or her hobby
- Do a deal on an annual, group membership on a local gym – use the ‘free’ pass to issue on a rolling monthly basis to those who want it and have been recognised the previous month
- Buy a season ticket or corporate box at a local Football stadium and allow those who’ve been recognised to use it with their family
- Authorise an extra ‘paid’ day off at your discretion
- Pay professional development fees/subscription for training or career development
- Give them a thank you card with a Lottery Ticket in it (-and hope they don’t hit the jackpot and leave!)
- Buy a meal out for two at their favourite restaurant so they can take their spouse/a friend etc along too
- Arrange a surprise delivery to the office of flowers, chocolates, a cake for a worthy hero
- Design inter-team competitions (- using gamification) with a range of spot prizes and individual/team awards and prizes for various achievements
- Upgrade travel arrangements for their next work related trip, e.g. first class rail travel, deluxe accommodation, flight/rental car upgrade etc.
