· Participants introduce themselves to each other and new “friends” introduce each other to the rest of the class
3:30 – 4:00 pm Table Discussions
· Each table will be given a “test” on regional issues, acronyms, challenges, etc. as a primer for what they will learn during the week. Table will have 30 minutes to work together to complete the test. RLI staff will “grade” the tests and the table with the highest score will be rewarded Monday morning. Rather, than have the same people at a table Sunday and Monday, the same people will sit together Sunday and Thursday. Thursday morning, the same group will take the test again. RLI staff will compare the results and the “highest grade” will also receive a reward on Thursday. The purpose of this exercise is to provide some time for class interaction, begin discussions

The objective of this session is to provide participants with a demographic profile of the region relative to regional planning including trends and an analysis of what these demographics mean to the future of the region. The session will be conducted from the perspective of 2030. In other words, rather than projecting what will happen, the demographics will be presented as if we are in the year 2030.

Each table will be provided with a images of well known places, building, parks, roads, etc. in the region (i.e. Spaghetti Junction, Silver Comet Trail, a school, a ball field..) and a list of organizations and institutions responsible for development/oversight of these areas. Tables will be given 25 minutes to match the correct organization/s with the picture. The speaker will then walk through the answers with the class providing a list of institutions involved in issues of regional
significance and a brief overview of the responsibilities of each organization. The map/list will include:
