CLASS TITLE:PERSONNEL TECHNICIAN I - SES

This is entry-level professional work performing assignments in a program of personnel administration.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

- Maintains personnel records.
- Processes personnel and pay actions and applications for employee benefits; calculates and codes items for payroll deductions.
- Recruits applicants statewide or interstate for employment in the state service by preparing material; interviewing applicants; and advising them of the advantages, benefits, requirements and opportunities of state employment.
- Determines qualifications of applicants for agency employment.
- Reviews job assignments of employees and assists employees and supervisors in preparing job descriptions.
- Explains state and other group insurance programs to employees and processes paperwork in connection with the programs.
- Processes paperwork in connection with workers' compensation and retirement programs.
- Processes credit union paperwork and provides liaison with credit union offices.
- Reviews position descriptions; conducts on-the-job position audits in order to determine the level or complexity of assigned duties and responsibilities; and recommends the proper allocation of positions.
- Prepares training aids and conducts in-service training programs.
- Collects data for wage analyses.
- Performs related work as required.
